April 16, 2007 Virginia Tech Tragedy

"We will continue to invent the future through our blood and tears and through all our sadness ... We will prevail ... "
-- Nikki Giovanni, University Distinguished Professor, poet, activist

I have recruited on the campus of Virginia Tech at least 20 times. I have many friends and colleagues that work at VT and have the privilege of knowing a great number of Tech alumni. Hokies are a special breed. When I heard about the 4/16/07 tragedy I felt like a part of my heart was ripped out. As hard as it is to figure out, I know that God has a plan. My thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to anyone that was touched or felt a sense of loss as a part of this horrific day. The attached picture and attached quote is from the VT website. www.vt.edu

As much as this horrible day will make us focus on the evil in the world, I would encourage you to visit the VT website and read all of the tributes, kind thoughts and call for prayers from around the world. There are literally hundreds of them posted each day. Some of them are truly uplifting. http://rosa.hosting.vt.edu/index.php/memorial/
...Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me...Psalm 23:4 (NIV)

Don't monkey around in Las Vegas, Celebrate 25 years of Fantasy in Mooresville, NC!!

Watch this site for additional information as Mooresville, NC leads the way in vying for the 25th AnniversaryASNFL Draft Party to be held in late August or early September, 2007.

Although Mooresville is known as Race City USA, it is the perfect host city to celebrate 25 years of ASNFL.

Mooresville, NC is an old milling and manufacturing town about 20 miles north of Charlotte, about 4 miles east of I-77. State Routes 115, 150 and 150 run through the middle of the struggling downtown area. There are some good antique and resale shops. There is a great 1800's style hardware store you must visit. It's called D.L. Turner, right on Main Street. With new shopping areas popping up on the other side of I-77, the downtown area may continue to struggle. Watch for some great shopping to come to Mooresville Towne Square and Mooresville Crossing in early 2007.There are a few dining options in downtown Mooresville. Greg's Bar BQ and Ted's Kickin' Chicken on the casual side and Soiree' on the fancier end. Greg's has a definite small town feel to it and the pulled pork dinner is a must try.

The planning committee has already identified a tour of Lowe's Motor Speedway and surrounding Race Shops to Mooresville, tubing or skiing on Lake Norman and a pre-draft party dinner at Lancaster's BarBQ as potential activities. http://www.lancastersbbq.com/

Don't wait until formal proposals are due. Check back here often as Mooresville's bid unfolds.

What happens in Mooresville,... will affect you the entire ASNFL season so start planning now!!
